Real Gators are Green

For my summer internship, I am working for the CEED office. My main project for the summer is to re-structure the Eco-Reps program on campus. The mission statement of the Eco-Reps is as follows: "Through a commitment to peer motivation and the development of an environmentally literate student body, the Eco-Reps have a goal to reduce the campus ecological foot print and inspire responsibility for our community."

The Eco-Reps will be working closely in coordination with both the CEED office and the Office of Sustainability. You can expect to see lots of initiatives budding from the program, including increased participation and publicity on the national RecycleMania competition and dorm wide energy competitions.

As an offshoot of my work with the the program redevelopment, I've started a blog entitled "Real Gators are Green: a student's guidance on going green." Check it out, and if you like what you see, follow it! It's all aimed towards how to be sustainable at Allegheny (and it's mildly entertaining, I promise!) Also, check out the Green Gator Guide (located on the CEED website, just look for the "Green Gator" logo!) made by Dave Valentine last summer! And if you have any suggestions, or if you'd like more information about any of my projects, e-mail me at templij@allegheny.edu!
